I used Young House Love's general guide and video tutorials and used 1X2s instead of lattice.
I will provide you with a whammo blammo before and after-ish.
I finally drug myself out of the post baby delivery whatever that funk was...I never understood why something so amazing and wonderful could also make you feel like hell. That's a whole other post.
The kids hall bath was in desperate need of some updates. The continuous use of the towel bar as a monkey bar had rendered it useless. My family is not physically capable of hangin' up their towels on a bar. The purple paint was gross and I was tired of seeing the Hannah Montanta shower curtain.
So I started with this. Please don't laugh.

I worked furiously over the long weekend to get this done. I was home with the kids, hubby was at work, and I worked with as many materials as I had at home to finish this project before I went back to work on Tuesday. Total cost was just under $60. It could have been less but I purchased pre-primed. I had the primer and paint from previous (door painting) projects. I also already had a nail gun and caulk gun. If I tackle something like this again I will go get a putty knife and some white wood filler. I had to fill the holes twice because I didn't get enough in there initially and that stuff shrinks! Then had to prime over the spots because my filler was tan.
Here is the after-ish.

I have ordered the whale shower curtain from Urban Outfitters and I am waiting on that to pick the paint color and hang the little cabinet back up on the wall. I'm hoping someday I can train my teenager to put all her stuff in there, a girl can dream right?
stay tuned for a final reveal soon!

There are like a million out there! Wait there are like a million of each shade out there! What if I hate it! What if my neighbors hate it? What if our hosue becomes THAT house? You know which house I'm talking about...every neighborhood has one! This is pretty much how I feel when I even think about the whole idea of painting the exterior of our home.

We had some pretty damaged parts of our home's exterior trim that we've finally had repaired. The follow up to that is to have it painted. Knowing this day was coming you would have thought I would be totally prepared with paint colors and ideas. But working full time and a new baby in the house...sleep is my number one priority. Which remindes me... I'm tired.

Here's a shot of the house pretty much as it is now with Mr. Jake making a cameo.

I have always always always wanted a blue door. Ever since I saw Knotting Hill. So when we bought our house it had black shutters and a faded stained door I painted it blue. My husband who often humors me actually didn't mind the blue. But I then had to pain the shutters and then complained that the rest of the house needed to be painted. I had this grand vision of grey tones and my bright blue door. This was all before I knew anything about photoshop and all these handy programs were available online that allowed you to digitally paint your home before you ever set foot in a hardware store. But I've been tweaking some images of our home and the red brick just isn't flowing with my grand vision. The budget is not there to paint the brick, which I'm not sure I would do anyway and it's definetly not there to cover it with stone (my dream). So now I'm kind of <strike>pouting</strike> revisiting some othe rcolor schemes. I'll try and post some color schemes in the next few days. Any suggestions would be appreciated!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4064258435171654438.post-2211491274348324502013-04-17T15:56:00.000-05:002013-04-17T15:56:39.093-05:00Under ConstructionThere has been a whole heck of a lot of activity at the House of P in in last year or so. It's crazy to think about how much things have changes from a year ago...

Time passes so quickly yet it seems like the days drag on and on forever.

Madison is now 10 and Jacob is 3 1/2 months old...at this age the 1/2 is crucial. I'm 27 and Scott is 37.

A year ago, Madison wasn't a pre-teen, Jacob was small enough we needed a microscope to see him. A year ago, I was closer to 25 than to 30 and a year ago Scott was 85 pounds heavier.

This last year has changed us, not just the addition of a new family member or that now I am biologically a mother...it's truly changed us...for the better.

June of 2009 I found out I was pregnant. We were also contacted by Madison's estranged mother, Tina. Scott was really reluctant to even talk to her, and even those I was more scared for myself and my relationship with Madison, I urged him to do it...not matter the cost to me...because it's what was best for Madison that we should be thinking of.

I'm gonna wrap it up for now but I think I'm gonna work on my birth story and getting that down in type for future generations..hahaUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4064258435171654438.post-65192427381708835842009-05-13T11:43:00.002-05:002009-05-13T11:53:11.017-05:00It's me again....Ok so I've been kinda MIA for quite a while...things have just been non-stop. I've barely been able to keep up with the laundry (ha) let alone do anything for "fun" so my crafting wish list looks pretty much the same...haven't gotten to the point of being able to cross anything off.

I've really been struggling the last few months...with lots of things..life in general I guess you could say. It's alot of dark thoughts and nasty emotion that I just don't think I could get undercontrol if I were to let them loose at this particular moment...so I just won't go there.

I NEED to get back to spilling my brain on to my computer screen ...because I fear for what might happen if I don't.

Madison is growing up and has really been hassle free for the most part aside from her stubborness when it comes to her required reading. If I could find a way to get along with Cindy, my MIL, and I wasn't the one making all the compromises, things would be so much better...but that's an entirely different entry for another day.

For now I'm just thankful for the sunshine and the fact that our pool is no longer leaking...and warm weather is on its way! = )Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4064258435171654438.post-48102781000514565992009-03-03T22:15:00.002-06:002009-03-03T22:25:41.730-06:00MY HERO
Create your own FACEinHOLEUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4064258435171654438.post-4577626585022991502009-03-03T22:05:00.002-06:002009-03-03T22:07:46.338-06:00FACEinHOLE

This makes me laugh!

Create your own FACEinHOLE

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4064258435171654438.post-73024478950287380742009-02-09T13:35:00.004-06:002009-02-09T14:20:43.902-06:00Seriously Neglected!Ok don't beat me I swear I will get an update soon but I just wanted to post so that you didn't think I had fallen off the face of the earth. The movie was at 7:35 pm so Jennifer and I headed straight from down town to Plano in her car and met Bhagini there, who was kind enough to go and get us a spot in line.

Jen and I got there and immediatly grabbed food for all of us. Jen and I had hotdogs and Bhagini had a pizza. We split some pretzel bites and cheese, slurped our sodas and crunched on popcorn. This was all the hour before we were even allowed in to be seated.

There were a bazillion little girls with likeone mom as the chaperone....then there was a large handful of grown up girls like us....interspursed with a few boys and Dad's that were forced to come. One older Dad had a shirt on that said "Your scent is like a drug to me!" That was cool!

The movie was awesome...don't worry there are no spoilers here. I went through the first 10-15 minutes of the movie critiquing the book to the movie changes...then I decided I just needed to turn my inner critic off and watch and enjoy the movie for the movie itself.

One thing I do want to vent about is the horrible horrible weave they put on Taylor Lautner aka Jacob....seriously...it looks like they fashioned it together with barbie hair and elmers glue...

hopefully the profits for this one will be good enough to get better hair and makup people for the next 3 movies....oh I can't wait!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4064258435171654438.post-68155719609003195092008-11-21T13:06:00.002-06:002008-11-21T13:10:32.069-06:00Just for you!
I hate Said!

; We were feeling a bit sentimental about going home and seeing friends.

Our weekend was just wonderful. Kelly's baby shower was really great...there were some issues trying to get people to participate in the games...but other than that she got alot of really nice things. Karington Bree is already a very blessed baby and she's still got a full month to go until we meet her!

I promise I will post pictures of the two baby quilts I have made in the last few months.

After the baby shower, several groups of friends came over to Brent and Kelly's (where we stayed) to watch the football game and eat. We had so much food! It was just great!

I have a few random (drunk) pictures that I probably won't post cause they really aren't of anything in particular....just groups of people standing around.

Anyway....several people made comments about Scott and I moving back to Lubbock...it made us really sad. I really do miss all of our friends there...but I loved most of the things about DFW too. Granted there are things I would change, if I could, but there are just as many of those things about Lubbock...I'm just not there to be reminded of them. I would love to be closer to my parents, I would love to live in a smaller town so that my commute was shorter, so I could be more involved in Madison's life in school and after hours. I feel so detached down here ....I'm a good hour commute away from where I live and while the train ride helps carry the financial burden of that aspect I still feel like I see the people on the train more than I see my family in the evening....I'm not there to drop Madison off at school, or pick her up...or able to have lunch with Scott every so often...I feel trapped in the "concrete jungle" so to speak.

I clocked the trip during 5 o'clock traffic from the new Richardson branch to my drive way...11 minutes flat. I wish, wish, wish and hope, hope, hope that something is decided soon about the Branch Management position for that location. I really feel that being physically closer to home would make my happier even if I still have to put up with the same daily blah of my job. I don't know...I think I'm just ready for a change...and I am eagerly searching for it in anything that I can think of that would provide that for me....but I keep getting disappointedUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4064258435171654438.post-1097900181881104092008-11-10T07:26:00.003-06:002008-11-10T10:26:08.565-06:00ONE WORDWhere is your mobile phone? desk
Where is your significant other? work
Your hair colour? multi-colored : (
Your mother? missed
Your father? handy
Your favorite thing? warm
Your dream last night? satisfying
Your dream goal? happiness
The room you're in? cubical
Your hobby? creating
Your fear? failure
Where do you want to be in 6 years? We always have a good time with them, so I was pretty pumped about seeing them.

We arrive and needed cash to park...something I was not aware of, and therefore not prepared for. So we had to head over to the little grocery they have set up out there to hit up the ATM. We, I kid you not, haven't even been there like 2 minutes and I'm ready to beat the hell out of Redneck drunk bitch in front of us...who apparently couldn't get money from the ATM and felt like screaming "Give me my money you WHORE!" at the machine was productive. Scott reined me in and we got our cash and got out of there.

Moral of this story..NASCAR fans are scary...lol

Today is my little brother's birthday..he would be 24 years old today. He was killed 17 years ago, that anniversary passed in October. That was a sad day, today we celebrate him. I love you Nicholas. Always and forever.

ok now to the yummy part. I made the absolute best Potato Soup today!

Here's what I did!

Kate’s Potato Soup

Yields: 10 servings
INGREDIENTS:
10-12 peeled potatoes, cubed
1 onion, diced
3-4 cloves fresh garlic diced
6 cubes beef bouillon
2 cups milk
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 pound bacon - cooked and
crumbled
2 cups shredded Cheddar
cheese
DIRECTIONS:
1.In a large stock pot, sauté onions with fresh garlic in 1 tbsp olive oil.

2. Add potatoes and beef bouillon along with approximately 8 cups of warm water or enough to cover potatoes. Bring to a boil and simmer on medium heat until potatoes are with in 15 minutes of being finished.

3. Add milk and cream of mushroom soup. Use a potato masher and mash to desired consistency. I like mine with a bit of chunk to it, but it's your call. Simmer on low until soup has thickened. About 15 -20 minutes.

4. Serve with bacon crumbles and shredded cheese on top in individual bowls

Please try this and tell me what you think, what worked, what didn't!
